Derek Holloway

Following seven years of employment in various capacities with the Association of Consulting Engineers of Canada, Derek joined ENCON in 1986 as an Architects & Engineers Claims Analyst. Subsequently, he has devoted his career to both underwriting and loss prevention for all aspects of ENCON's insurance programs. Derek was appointed Senior Vice-President in charge of ENCON's program for architects and engineers.

Ali G. Arlani
Ali Arlani is currently the Director of the Building and Development Branch in the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing. Ali joined the ministry as a senior technical policy advisor in 1986. Since then, he has held a number of positions including Manager of Code Services, Manager of Code Development and Training, as well as his current position. He holds bachelor degrees in civil engineering and economics, and post graduate degrees in building engineering. Prior to joining the Ontario government, Ali was a lecturer at the Centre for Building Studies in Montreal.
In his current position he is responsible for the Ontario Building Code, the building regulatory reform initiative, as well as issues affecting the development and construction industry in general.
