A product binder contains a manufacturer's product literature, technical data, guide specifications, test data, and related information. Because qualified technical representatives cannot always be present to advise the design professional, the product binder should allow the design professional to research, select, specify and detail products easily. Qualifying product binders will:
- Follow a logical format for selecting and specifying your product.
- Allow for flexibility of contents, such as additions and deletions of information.
- Include the name of the Product, manufacturer/representative, and the MasterFormat Division or Section Number on the spine and cover.
- Include a Table of Contents and tabs.
- Include a registration card, a record sheet for recording dates of distribution and updates, and local contact's business card.
- Show company name, address, and phone number, and publication dates on manufacturer's product information pages or manufacturer's alpha-numeric identifier on all pages.
- Secure unbound samples, brochures, and disks to prevent them from slipping out of the binder.
- Contain guide specifications written in three-part format in accordance with CSC formats and principles.
- Scoring is based on CSC's CTR Level II Handbook which provides recommendations for Product binders.
