RESCUE ROW

The Trio Kennel & Obedience Club Ltd, in keeping with its commitment to responsible dog ownership, is pleased to include RESCUE ROW at its 2003 Shows. Several bonafide rescue organizations were invited to participate, and we're very happy to accommodate them. Each will receive free booth space in an area just outside the official show grounds, and will have staff and literature on hand to inform and educate. As well, you will notice at this year's Trio Shows, that proceeds from certain activities and events, such as the Triumph Look-Alike Contest will be divided among the participating Rescue Groups.
It is our hope that Trio's inclusion of Rescue Row will set a positive example for other all breed clubs to follow.
Below, please examine the submissions of some of this year's particpants.

We are a non profit volunteer based organization dedicated to the welfare of the Border Collie. We depend on donations, adoption fees and fundraising to provide for the dogs in our foster care.

Our Goals

  • To rescue, rehabilitate and rehome Border Collies that have been abandoned, neglected or no longer able to remain in their current home.
  • To place adoptable dogs into appropriate homes making the best match possible for the dog and adopter.
  • To educate the public on the characteristics and needs of the breed. To commit and promote the spay and neuter of all dogs that come into our care.
  • To provide advice and contact information to Border Collie owners when needed, encouraging them to work with and keep their border Collies.

Great Dane Rescue Inc.
(Michigan, Ontario, Indiana, Alabama)

Officers: Ana Greavu (President), Delayne Corle (Vice president), Sandy Suarez (Secretary/Treasurer)
Great Dane Rescue, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to the placement of relinquished Great Danes into loving, safe and permanent homes. We place all Danes brought into our rescue program, into foster homes where they are brought up to date on all their medical care, including neutering. The dogs are kept for at least 10 days, allowing time for temperament testing and general health evaluation.

Upon adoption, a contract is signed stating that the new owners agree that the Dane will be kept indoors as a house-pet, that we will be contacted if the adoption does not work out. The contract also allows for us to inspect the living conditions of the dog at any time and if not satisfactory, take the dog back into Rescue.

In addition to placements and referrals, we also offer information on the Great Dane and provide guidance and counseling on care and training. The representatives serving Great Dane Rescue have been involved with the breed for many years and their combined experience includes breeding and showing, obedience training and of course, rescue work.

We are happy to answer any questions and want potential adopters to know all they can about the Great Dane. Great Danes make wonderful companions; they are very people oriented and need to be part of a loving family.

We feel that dog ownership is a responsibility that is ongoing for the life of the dog and encourage people to do research before they commit themselves to a breed as large as the Great Dane.

Great Dane Rescue is funded by donations, adoption fees and fund-raising. 100% of the fees go directly to our Rescue Fund. Established in 1993, incorporated in 1995

Our Petfinder Home Page www.petfinder.org/shelters/ON90.html
Established 1990 informally and November 2002 publicly

Who we Are: We are a group of Individuals not unlike you. CYTR is comprised of volunteers dedicated to the welfare/rescue of Yorkshire, mixes, and other small breeds from pounds, kill shelters, unwanted, abandoned, neglectful, abusive situations, puppymills, etc.

Although our focus in Rescue remains with the Yorkshire Terrier breed, we do rescue most small dogs and we will work with other Rescue type Organizations to ensure that the animal's best interest comes first.

What We Do: To ensure that we meet our goals to save a dog's life, or improve upon its living conditions, we liaison with kill & non-kill shelters, pounds, other rescues, owners and whomever else, we can. We do believe that with these combined efforts we can cut down on the number of animals that are euthanized needlessly each year.

If you or anyone you know no longer wishes to care for a Yorkshire Terrier, mix or other small breed, please take comfort in knowing that we are here to help. When an Owner surrenders an animal into our Rescue, we are not judgmental to the factors as to why an owner would like to find an alternate home for their dog(s). We respect everyone's privacy. In fact we are aware that not all dogs and all humans can live harmoniously within the same environment. Situation and lifestyle changes are inevitable, and not everyone can care for an animal with special needs.

Within the comforts of our approved Foster Homes, we then provide the necessary medical attention, rehabilitation, emotional support and re-training for all Rescued Dogs that come into our care. It is only then, and through careful screening, do we find loving forever homes for these delicate animals.

Please also note that although we may place an animal in your home, we still extend the same courtesy and we insist that you return the animal to us for re-homing should your lifestyle change.

We enforce spaying/neutering your pet.
The key to our success is through education.

Southern Ontario Sheltie Rescue

Who is Southern Ontario Sheltie Rescue and what do they do?
SOS Rescue is a non-profit group of volunteers in southern Ontario. Dogs in our care are given basic vet care as needed; are neutered/spayed, micro-chipped, and kept up-to-date on vaccinations and heartworm preventives. We take them into foster care for a minimum of 1 to 2 weeks, in order to do basic assessment, all the while providing them with food, companionship and tender, loving care. They are then available for adoption to a fully screened home that matches their needs, and where they best fit into their new family’s lifestyle.

How does SOS Rescue work?
The dogs come into our care from shelters, veterinarians clinics, other rescue organizations, or from people who can no longer keep their pet. Families interested in adopting a rescued Sheltie from us will complete an initial questionnaire, followed by a home visit and vet reference check. We find a home that best suits the dog, and also a dog that best suits the home.

We do not have a shelter as we operate from our homes, and the homes of dedicated foster families. Adoption fees, donations and fund-raising efforts, reduce our vet costs.

We are always in need of dog accessories such as crates, bedding, food, toys, etc., and are continually recruiting for foster homes. We cover a large area greatly populated with people, therefore, many Shelties who need help.

One of the missions of the IGCC is to rescue Italian Greyhounds that are in need. This may include IG's whose owners can no longer care for them, IG's found in shelters or Humane Societies, or owners who are no longer willing to care for the dog. In all of these cases the breeder of the dog (if known) will be contacted and given the opportunity to do the right thing and take the dog back.

Any dog in Rescue will be treated by a veterinarian for necessary medical treatments - usually a dental cleaning and extraction, spay/neuter if necessary and vaccinations. The dogs are usually elderly, although sometimes young ones are surrendered to us as well.

An adoption fee is asked for each dog to help cover the costs of the care required. For more information on adopting a rescue please contact: Adrienne Fitzhenry or Michele Bateman at igeez@onlink.net
